SVA SASK Cups - 18U Mens

18U Men

Guidelines

a)    Registered teams must play in a minimum of 1 tournament to a maximum of 6 competitions.
b)    The Mikasa MVA200 will be the official competition ball for this age category.
c)    18U will utilize the 6 limited substitution rule with libero.
d)    Head Coaches must be certified Level 2 in Volleyball at the time of registration.

18U Over Age Rule
Athletes born in 1991 that are in Grade 12 for the 2011-2012 academic year (first year Grade 12) MUST apply (directly to the SVA office) for an exemption to compete in the Saskatchewan Volleyball Age Class Indoor Programs (Appendix G).  These athletes are eligible to play in the National Championships.  Volleyball Canada and the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association allow a maximum of 2 overage athletes per team.

SVA SASK Cup 1: March 31 - April 1, 2012

Provincials: April 28 - 29, 2012

Entry Deadline: March 23, 2012
Entry Fee: $350

Location: Saskatoon

Tournament Structure

a)    A serpentine seeding system will be utilized to place teams into pools in the preliminary round. (Please see Appendix B for a serpentine seeding example)

b)    Saskatchewan Volleyball reserves the right to adjust the seeding in order to avoid teams from the same club playing in the same pool in the preliminary draw.

c)    Playoff draws will be arranged to best reflect the number of entries in each tournament.

d)     Provincials will be a power pool structure - exact format TBD based on number of teams.

 

Seeding

a)    Seeding for SASK Cup #1 will be done using total points accumulated so far.
b)     Seeding for Provincials will be done by the following:
          1) The sum of the total number of accumulated points from all tournaments attended; 
               divided by the total number of tournaments attended.
          2) In the case of a Tie, the following procedure will be used to break the tie.  
               The steps will be followed in sequence until the tie is broken.

                    i. The results of matches played head to head in the most recent tournament
                    ii. The team with the higher placed finish in the most recent tournament both teams attended
                    iii. Coaches poll on where the teams should be ranked
                    iv. Coin Flip.
