Tournament Structure

a)    Asics Cup 1 will be an open format utilizing the results from the previous year’s 17U/18U Provincial Championships to place teams into pools.
b)    A serpentine seeding system will be utilized to place teams into pools in the preliminary round. (Please see Appendix for a serpentine seeding example)
c)    Saskatchewan Volleyball reserves the right to adjust the seeding in order to avoid teams from the same club playing in the same pool in the preliminary draw.
d)    Playoff draws will be arranged to best reflect the number of entries in each tournament.
e)     Teams will be guaranteed a minimum of 5 matches per weekend to a maximum of 7 for the two days.

Seeding

a)    Asics Cup 1 will be an open format utilizing the results from the previous year’s 16U and 17UProvincial Championships to place teams into pools.
b)    The results from Asics Cup 1 will be used to seed teams for Asics Cup 2 and Asics Cup 2 results will be used to seed teams for Asics Cup 3 and Asics Cup 3 results will be used to seed teams for Provincials.
c)    Results from Asics Cup 1 will be utilized to place teams in a division. Divisions will be divided into groups of 8-16 depending on the number of teams registered to a maximum of three divisions.
d)    Following each Asics Cup, the two (2) highest teams from each division may choose to move up a division. The two (2) lowest seeded teams in each division will move down a division. If a team decides to stay down, the next highest seed from the same division may choose to go up.
e)    Teams will receive points based on their finish in each Asics Cup Tournament ONLY (club sanctioned events will not be awarded any points). For example: 1st place = 1 point, 2nd place = 2 points, 3rd place = 3 points. Teams not entering a tournament will receive the total number of entries + one point (e.g. 12 teams = 13 points).
f)     All ties in rankings will be decided based on the highest finish from the last tournament, then the tournaments prior to that. If teams are still tied then results from the last tournament will be used - matches for/against, sets for/against and finally points for/against. In case of two teams still tied after this criterion is followed a coin toss will decide the final outcome.
