Female Competitive Programs Points System

There are 2 programs within the Points Structure. The first is designated as a "STAR SYSTEM" teams receive a "star value" based on their placement at Asics Cup #1. The second is a "POINTS SYSTEM" points will be accumulated throughout the season and will be used to seed the teams for provincials. Seeding will be done as outlined for each age category.

Star System

Purpose: To determine the weight of each team. Each team is assigend a "Star Value' based on their results in Asics Cup #1. Teams who choose not to attend receive an automatic "Star Value" of 2 stars. Star Values are used to determine (for club tournaments) the type of tournament being hosted.

Star Value Assignments
1st - 4th = 10 stars

5th - 12th = 6 stars
13th - 18th = 4 stars
19th + = 2 stars

How the "Star Value System" Works

To determine the total points available, type and calibre of tournament, tournaments will be ranked as either a Gold, Green, or White tournament (based on the type of teams that attend the tournament). To detemine what type of tournament you are running you take the total star value of all teams and divide it by the total number of teams attending. To qualify as a sanctioned tournament you must have a minimum of three Saskatchewan teams registered in the age class you are sandtioning the tournament for (ie. if you are running an 18UW tournament, you have to have a minimum of 3, 18UW teams entered in your tournament).

Gold Tournament = 6.1+
Green Tournament = 4.1 - 6.0
White Tournament = <4.0

Exceptions:

Out of Province Teams: Out of province teams can enter your tournament. They do not have a 'star value'. To detemine the tournament type you total the star value for the number of Saskatchewan teams and divide it by the total number of SASKATCHEWAN team ONLY. Points are assessed based on your FINAL RANKING in the tournament.

Example: If your team places 4th and an out of province team places 3rd, your team will receive the points for 4th place. There will be no 3rd place points given out in this instance.

     Teams from different age classes: Teams from different age classes can enter your tournament. They do not have a 'star value'. To detemine the tournament type you total the star value for the number of teams from the designated age class and divide it by the total number of teams from the designated age class ONLY. Points are assessed based on you FINAL RANKING in the tournament.

     Example: if a tournament is registered as a 16U Tournament your team places 4th and a 15U team places 3rd, your team will receive points for 4th place. There will be no 3rd place points given out in this instance.
