Sanctioning Your Event

Objectives of Event Sanctioning

To improve consistency in the hosting of tournaments, athlete camps, and clinics.

To ensure that services received through the Sanctioned Event meet and/or exceed the level of quality set forth by the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association and Volleyball Canada.

To improve communication between the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association and its members.

To provide information needed for the organization of Provincial Championships.
Registration of the event you wish to sanction must be made three weeks prior to the date of the Sanctioned Event.

Procedure for Sanctioning an Event

The Sanctioning Fee of $50.00 must be paid on-line at the time of registering the event.

All Event Sanctioning Forms are subject to approval by the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association and will not be approved without receiving the sanction fee.

The Saskatchewan Volleyball Association will notify the host of the Event when the request for Event Sanctioning is approved.

Following the event, a summary report is to be submitted to the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association no later than one week after the conclusion of the event. For tournaments this will include a summary of the final results to be filled out on the Tournament Results form (available on the website). For athlete camps and clinics, the follow up report will include a list of participants and instructors.

Promotion of the Sanctioned Event with Volleyball Canada and other provinces/territories.

Access to the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association Officials Program. Official services will only be offered to SVA Sanctioned Events.

Access to SVA services to help assist in the planning of the Sanctioned Event.

Reduced rates for score sheets, draw sheets, and line up cards that will be used during the Sanctioned Event.

Avoids conflicts with similar SVA Sanctioned Events.

Regulations of Event Sanctioning

1. Rules & Regulations

     Rules and regulations must be followed as stated in the most recent version of the Volleyball Canada Rule Book.

2. Officials

     All Referees used at SVA Sanctioned Events must be SVA certified and currently registered with the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association.

     Hosts of Sanctioned Tournaments must contact the Referee Committee Zone Contact three weeks prior to the tournament date to arrange for referees.

     Saskatchewan Volleyball Association registered referees cannot participate in non-sanctioned tournaments unless they have received permission from the Referee Committee.

     Any registered Saskatchewan Volleyball Association Official that participates in non-sanctioned tournament can lose their certification status.

3. Codes of Conduct

     All SVA Sanctioned Events must follow SVA and Volleyball Canada Codes of Conduct.

4. Event Conflict

     The Sanctioned Event must not be staged in competition with similar SVA events, unless permission is granted by the SVA for such events to occur.

5. SVA Recognition

     The Saskatchewan Volleyball Association must be recognized in all promotional materials and/or activities surrounding the Sanctioned Event.

6. Follow Up Report

A Follow Up Report must be submitted to the SVA Office. For tournaments this will include a summary of the final results. For athlete camps and clinics the follow up report will include a list of participants and instructors.

7. Registration

For Sanctioned Youth Events all teams, athletes, and coaches must be current members with the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association.

Saskatchewan Volleyball Association Youth Age Class Teams cannot participate in Non-Sanctioned Events unless they receive permission from the Saskatchewan Volleyball Association.

Teams that participate in Non-Sanctioned Events within the Province of Saskatchewan may lose their eligibility to compete in Saskatchewan Volleyball Association Provincial Championships.
