RE: Highlighted Points of the 2011-2012 SVA Program Guide
Hope everyone had a great summer and is ready for another great season of volleyball. The Saskatchewan Volleyball Association’s 2011-2012 Program Guide is attached, and is full of lots of useful information for the upcoming season! Please make special note of the following few points, as there have been some significant changes in these areas:
1) Rule Changes
a. Substitution Rule – Quick Substitution Rule – changes to the substitution procedure have occurred. Coaches are no longer required to signal for a sub, if they are wanting a sub, at the end of the play, the sub enters the substitution area and waits to be waved on – for detailed information on the new procedure, please see pg 71 of the program guide.
b. Women’s Net Height Changes – 14UW = 2.15, 15UW = 2.20, 16UW = 2.20 – see pg 29 of the program guide for more information on the changes.
2) Volleyball Canada Membership Fee Increase
Volleyball Canada has increased their membership fees by $2.00 – please note the program guide was printed prior to the change being made – the online version has the updated membership fees.
3) Changes for 2012-2013
The SVA Board of Directors has approved some upcoming program changes for the 2012-2013 Age Class season. For the 2012-2013 Season, the SVA will no longer be running SASK cup tournaments. SVA will continue to run Provincials. The changes will allow the SVA staff to focus on other aspects of growing the sport of volleyball throughout the province. The change will also mean a ‘tournament fee’ being added to all SVA Sanctioned tournaments. In short, a fee per team entered in every sanctioned tournament will be paid to SVA. More in depth information will be provided at the SVA AGM on November 6, 2011 in Regina.
4) Official Ball Change
The ball that will be used for the 2011-2012 SVA Season will be a Mikasa volleyball. Please check the individual age classes for the exact ball model.
PLEASE NOTE: The 18UW Sask Cup #1 will be held in Saskatoon, not Moose Jaw.
