New For 2010

1) Coaches Progression has been changed for the 2010 Season.  It is no longer:

TECHNICAL+THEORY+PRACTICAL=CERTIFIED

It is now:

In Training – Trained – Certified

2) Volleyball Canada’s Level 1 Acceleration Process – Click Here

3) Clinics are now called “Workshops”.

4) Workbooks and Requirements all have been updated and changed for levels 1 & 2 in indoor and beach.  New packages will be handed out at all workshops.

Existing important points

1) For 2010 Age Class season, all coaches must have their full Level 1 certification in Volleyball.

2) 18 & Under and 21 & Under coaches must also have their full Level 2 technical certification in volleyball in addition to their full level 1 certification at the time of team registration. 

3) Coaches that have not obtained the required certification prior to team registration will be allowed to coach after they have paid the required fine – please see below which is taken from page 29 of the 2008 SVA Program Guide.  

Coaches not complying with the Coaching Certification Criteria

If a coach does not comply (i.e. Does not have all or is missing any portion of the required level of the Coaching Certification), the coach will be fined according to the following structure

Level 1 Coaching Certification:  

a)  Does not have Theory A
b)  Does not have Technical Level 1 course for Volleyball
c)  Does not have the Level 1 Practical for Volleyball
*Missing a) and/or b) and/or c) will result in a fine of $125.00

Level 2 Coaching Certification:

a) Does not have Theory B
b) Does not have Technical Level 2 course for Volleyball
c) Does not have Level 2 Practical for Volleyball
*Missing a) and/or b) will result in a fine of $150.00
**Missing c) will result in an additional fine of $75.00

For example:The Head Coach of an 18U team and has no certification. They will be fined the fee for not having Theory A, Technical Level 1 and Level 1 Practical for Volleyball ($125) ANDthe fee for not having Theory B and Technical Level 2 ($150) AND the fee for not having the Level 2 Practical for Volleyball ($75). 

Total Fine = $350.00

Exception

For first time coaches in 14 & under, 15 & under and 16 & under age categories, a one year grace period will be granted. This means for the first year of coaching, you will not be required to be full Level 1 certified in Volleyball. Please note that this is only good for the first year and by the following year at registration, all coaches will be expected to have completed the certification process for Volleyball. There will be no exemption for first time coaches in the 18 & under and 21 & under categories. These coaches must comply with the mandatory coaching certification as outlined above.

**The Head Coach may register with only one team in an age category.
